About Speaker
Jennifer Sterling (Alliance Graphique member since 2000) founded Sterling Design in 1996. She is a creative director, designer, animator, typographer, illustrator, photographer, and educator. Her work has been included in the permanent collections of The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, The Library of Congress, Bibliotheque Nationale de France, Museum Fur Kunst Und Gewerbe, Hamburg, and the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art hosted a three-month solo show entitled “Jennifer Sterling: Selections from the Permanent Collection of Architecture and Design” and has been included in eight of their group shows to date. The Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museums Triennial Exhibit choose 83 designers and companies to showcase their creative of which Jennifer Sterling was one, along with Apple, Nike, and Martha Stewart. Numerous groups including the New York Type Directors Club, American Center for Design, Communication Arts, Graphis, The Society of Illustrators, I.D. Magazine, Print Magazine, How Magazine, and AdWeek have recognized her work for a wide range of clients in the technology, arts, and education arenas.
She has received over two thousand awards for her work in the fields of branding, typography, graphic design, print collateral, textiles, packaging, book design, poster design, illustration, exhibit design, environmental messaging, and web design. Her work has been featured in over 180 magazine and book articles including a feature in Graphis Magazine that named her “One of the Top Ten Designers in the World.” USA GD Magazine named her one of the “Twelve Designers to Change Design into the Millennium”. Clients and projects have included creating an interactive online design to promote the worldwide distribution of aids awareness and medical distribution to third world countries for Yahoo Inc. as well as creating the worldwide brand “Vital Voices” for Hillary Clinton and Madeleine Albright, an organization that promotes female ambassadorships around the world. In 2016 she asked to create campaign collateral for Hillary Clinton’s 2016 Presidential Campaign.
Additionally, Jennifer has served on the board of the San Francisco Museum of Modern Arts Architectural and Design Accessions Committee as well as serving as an adjunct professor at CCA (the California College of the Arts / San Francisco), AAU (Academy of Art University / San Francisco) and SVA (School of Visual Arts / New York) where she has taught Thesis, Identity, Packaging, Experimental / Advanced Typography, UI Web Design, and Portfolio. She was inducted into Who’s Who in America in 2000 for her work.
While her original studio opened in San Francisco she has operated in 3 global marketplaces, Miami, New York, and California while continuing to design work for global brands.
