About this event:
An interactive conversation that explored the role manifestos play in design practices.
In every professional field, there are definitive texts; for example, in Medicine, The Merck Manual comes to mind. The Chicago Graphic Design Club compiled the manifestos that have shaped graphic design’s evolution for over 100 years.
Part conversation and part interactive workshop, we explored a collection of manifestos. We discussed and challenged the role of manifestos and discovered how they can impact and shape our practices.
We also facilitated an interactive workshop that allowed participants to craft and develop their own manifestos.
We had compiled a collection of manifestos on our website.
Participants:
- Obtained a basic understanding of the history and application of manifestos in design
- Shared and discussed guiding design principles.
- Developed a personal manifesto through a facilitated and collaborative framework
