Be a Mentor, Support Others

What’s that old saying: What you put into something is often what you get out of it. What you plant, you will harvest and will always harvest more than you planted.

This means that after you get that new full-time, hopefully dream job, do not forget to take stock. You put hard work in and reap the rewards. However, how will you express gratitude and give back?  Additionally, this can be advising others on how you found your job and the steps and processes you used. It could be going to your kids, friends’ kids, niece or nephew’s school and speaking to their art classes on the importance of graphic design and brand work in our culture and society as a whole. The power and responsibility that comes with those opportunities and the change we can affect for good is in your hands — utilize it.

Share opportunities from your new company as they arise. Be an active voice in the mission and philosophies of your organization (and industry). Share your company’s articles, like your coworkers’ Instagram posts, connect with colleagues (and clients) on professional social platforms, and, in general, carry a torch for your company, team, and the work you all do. This will show commitment and team player attributes and grow your network.

There is a lot of work here; however, we’re not disregarding life/work balance. On the contrary, remember that life is good for you because of your drive, determination, tenacity, and professionalism. Ask yourself: how can I help others’ lives be better as well? That is why we wrote these articles, and we hope you have enjoyed this series.
