Part of our mission is to bring a positive vibe and add value to our community. We’re here to keep you in the loop, shine a light on cool stuff, offer a helping hand, share stories, and mentor whomever/whenever we can. With this in mind, we thought it’d be of benefit to go over some fundamental and foundational basics that go into looking for a job in our field of Graphic Design.

In the ever-changing landscape of our industry, we know there are ups and downs, and lots of folks out there are looking for new graphic design gigs for different reasons. Whether you’re just about to graduate or you’re a seasoned pro, it’s always a smart move to brush up on the basics of job hunting.

Here’s the scoop: There’s work ahead and you’re made for it! We firmly believe that if you follow our suggestions and dive headfirst into the job search process, you’ll find it’s more than just a checklist. Our collective effort encourages an understanding of fundamental elements, tasks, content creation, and strategic steps required for seeking, finding and landing more than an interview. Our goal for you is a new job, your first job, or hopefully, your dream job. Now, a quick disclaimer: our 10-part series on this topic isn’t a magic potion that guarantees employment. However, it will help you learn a way to clarify your voice, refine your personal brand, and build the confidence you need to navigate our industry from a job search perspective and beyond.

Our series of 5-five-minute digestible reads is a carefully curated mix covering topics like: Fundamental Definitions & Personal Brand Prep, Resume Strategy and Content, Portfolio Strategy & Content, Social Strategy & Content, Build the Portfolio, Where to Look for a Job, Interview Do’s and Don’ts, How to Never Burn a Bridge, and the importance of Mentorship. Each piece will be a mini treasure trove, where we break down the core tactics and exercises you’ll need for a solid foundation, and be able to add your own spin to make it your own.

We’re super stoked about this series and genuinely believe it’ll be a helpful guide for anyone job hunting, no matter where you are in your career.

Stick around, stay engaged, share your thoughts with us, and spread the love by sharing this series with your friends and colleagues. After all, we’re all about helping each other out. So, get ready for some proactive growth – we’re in this together!
