Our friends and collaborators at Murmur Ring will be hosting an immersion in Oaxaca Mexico.

Making and Identity in Oaxaca is a four-day immersion delivering transformative models for developing cultural strategies and cultivating partnerships. For this immersion, Murmur Ring has curated a cohort of cultural leaders including curators, educators, design strategists, and funders.

Together, this cohort of participants will:

  • Build a peer-generated body of knowledge on the role of experiences in facilitating economic prosperity, positive social impact, and cultural resilience
  • Develop a vision for the future of cultural institutions, museums, and foundations
  • Deepen understanding of cultural and institutional ecosystems that affect the growth and health of communities
  • Develop authentic, multi-media narratives that shape concrete partnerships and tangible futures

Oaxaca is an authentic, idiosyncratic design mecca. The region’s creative ecosystem’s success is largely the result of its unique cross-disciplinary structure. Creative leaders combine mediums across culinary arts, hospitality, and artisanal crafts to produce outcomes distinct to the region. Murmur Ring’s immersion will directly introduce you to those at the forefront of the region’s multidisciplinary approach to creative practice and serve as inspiration for your creative and organizational aspirations.

Site partners include:

  • 1050 Grados, a design collective striving to preserve traditional pottery techniques
  • La Clínica, a creative placemaking project that exists at the intersection of community, design, art, and hospitality
  • Origen, a restaurant turned experiential workshop
  • Miku Meko, is a fashion and textiles studio blending retail, educational programming, and economic development in one place

Following the immersion, Murmur Ring will produce documentation of the immersion’s findings and outcomes. Stay tuned for details.
