Point Type Foundry

The Chicago Graphic Design Club is excited to announce Point Type Foundry—a collection of experimental fonts made accessible.

Chicago’s typographic footprint is strong and has produced and continues to produce expressive and intelligent typography. Myself, alongside Sean Fermoyle, decided to continue the legacy of the history that inspires us and are looking to pave the way for new typography in the city and beyond.

Point Type has one core idea

To make bold, highly stylized, and unapologetically experimental typefaces available as fully functioning fonts for designers of all levels.

Each release will be offered in a single weight and offered as desktop, web, and app formats. We’ve priced everything affordably and structured the licensing to be as generous, and straightforward as possible; with the goal of making our collection accessible to students, independent creators, and seasoned professionals alike.

This isn’t a high-output operation—it’s a slow-burning archive of oddities, designed and released when the mood strikes or the right idea refuses to be ignored. We’re in no rush, and we’re not chasing trends. Our only goal is to have fun pushing typographic forms into strange, unexpected places—and sharing the results with whoever wants them.

And most importantly, we are looking at Point Type Foundry as a collaborative arm of the Chicago Graphic Design Club, that invites others to share their typographic creations to be distributed through us.
