Join us for a conversation with Aggie Toppins for a talk on her book, Thinking Through Graphic Design History.
This will focus on the following questions
- How to challenge the status quo by thinking differently about graphic design history?
- What are ways designers today are using historical engagements to shape their work?
- What does it mean to think historically, and why does it matter?
The virtual talk will allow time for a Q&A with Aggie Toppins.
About speaker
Aggie Toppins is a graphic designer, researcher, and writer who explores where graphics come from, what they do, and how they change over time. She has contributed to several books and has written for leading design journals including Design and Culture, Design Issues, Slanted, Eye, and AIGA Eye on Design. An award-winning educator, Toppins teaches at the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis, where she serves as Chair of Undergraduate Design. She earned a BS in graphic design from the University of Cincinnati in 2003 and an MFA from MICA in 2012.
